Don Quichot verliefd

Dear people,

On Friday, June 14th, 2019 together with baritone Jos Smeets I will present new program “Don Quichot verliefd” in Dorpskerk Wilp. This evening we will perform songs of French composers: Ravel, Ibert, Fauré, Roussel, Duparc, Bizet and others.

Maurice Ravel en Jacques Ibert composed songs about Don Quixote. And these songs served as a starting point for this lovely program. A set of three songs by Maurice Ravel, written in 1932-1933, was Ravel’s last completed work. It had been commissioned for a film by G. W. Pabst starring F. Chaliapin. But the slowness of Ravel’s composing meant that the songs were not used, and Jacques Ibert provided some songs instead.
